During September, The MENTOR Network continues our annual tradition of honoring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Life Skills Trainers and other staff in direct support roles throughout the month. Beginning September 10, we also celebrate national Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week. During this time, we recognize those staff members whose passion for making others’ lives better makes our mission possible.

Going Above and Beyond
The Network’s DSPs make a difference for the people they serve each day, helping them develop independent living skills, find meaningful employment and enjoy being a part of their communities.
In 2017, one of our DSPs was recognized for her outstanding commitment to those she serves. Tanya Croy, a Direct Support Professional from REM Mississippi, was selected as the 2017 American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) Mississippi DSP of the Year. A tireless advocate for people with disabilities, Tanya embodies The Network’s belief that with a little encouragement, there is no limit to what an individual can accomplish—regardless of the challenges they face.
Twelve other DSPs from across The Network were nominated for the award in their respective states, demonstrating the commitment to caring shared by all of The Network’s partners.
Recognizing Our Everyday Heroes
This year, The Network continues its annual DSP of the Day campaign, in which we highlight one DSP on our Facebook page and website each day during September. The campaign highlights these everyday heroes from across the organization, giving them the chance to tell their stories and share why direct support work is meaningful to them.
With their dedication to the work they do and their compassion for the people they serve, these employees make it possible for The Network to deliver quality-of-life-enhancing services to thousands of individuals throughout the country.
