In the ten years that Ripple of Hope Award recipient Jose Castillo has been a Mentor, he has demonstrated unwavering commitment to providing a loving and stable home for children in need. He and his wife Mirtha have adopted one of the children in their care, and they adopted their second child on November 17, 2006, National Adoption Day. Jose has inspired, taught, nurtured and touched countless lives. As a Mentor coach in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community, Jose’s willingness to assist brand-new and experienced foster parents has led to long-term and permanent homes for some of the most troubled kids. His outcomes are apparent in the look of relief on Mentors’ faces when he walks in a room.
The 2006 Ripple of Hope Awards winners were honored on November 13th, 2006 at the John Joseph Moakely United States Courthouse in Boston, Massachusetts.
