Since Mentor Lance Goebel attended the award ceremony in Boston with one of the men he serves through Illinois MENTOR, Western Division President Bob Longo couldn’t help but observe that it was the relationship between the men that allowed that first ripple of hope to flourish. “Through the love and support of the Goebel family, Joe and Mel no longer resemble the troubled men they were when they left institutions,” Bob said. “They have friends, they have each other, and they have a circle of support that extends well into their neighborhood. Everywhere they go…people treat Joe & Mel as they would any person—largely because Lance has shown them how.”
The 2005 Ripple of Hope Award winners were honored on November 15th, 2005 at the John F. Kennedy Library Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.
